New driving bans for heavy vehicles in Austria, Germany, and Tyrol in October

New driving bans for heavy vehicles are coming into force in Austria, Germany and Tyrol in October.

In Germany and Austria, traffic restrictions for heavy vehicles has been established on the A22 Brenner motorway: on the 26th of October 2024, the ban will be in force from 12 am to 10 pm, on the northbound carriageway from Vipiteno to the state border, for all vehicles exceeding 7,5 t gross weight. The vehicles already travelling on the A22 motorway at the time when the ban comes into force are obliged to stop at the designated parking areas along the motorway. 

In Tyrol, the Reschenpass state road (B180) has been closed due to tunnel construction work, already in force from the 8th of October to the 20th of December 2024, with a resulting traffic ban for heavy vehicles. During this closure, heavy vehicles will be diverted via the B185 Martinsbrucker Straße, the B184 Engadiner Straße and through the Switzerland.
