This closure, which is scheduled to begin in early December 2024 and continue until 2026, will affect the highway segment from Razdrto to Vipavski Križ and will be implemented in multiple phases with varying traffic conditions.
The first phase of the works, expected to last 58 weeks, will cause significant challenges for heavy vehicles in transit, as they must be rerouted to the Fernetti interport, in addition to the other measures such as speed restrictions and partial closures of carriageways with alternating traffic.
The H4 highway connects the Slovenian A1 to the Gorizia border crossing, serving as a crucial corridor for the transit of goods between Italy and Slovenia. Its interruption, caused by maintenance work, will consequently have significant repercussions on the road system, on the Friuli-Venezia Giulia motorway system, and on the entire cross-border logistics sector. In addition to the increase in traffic on some routes, it will also affect trade and regional logistics management, given that Friuli Venezia Giulia region is an important hub for international freight traffic.
