New traffic bans on the A22 Brenner motorway from Vipiteno to the Italian border on all Saturdays until the 15th of March 2025.

According to the decree of the government commissioner for the province of Bolzano, the Austrian authorities have introduced a driving ban for heavy vehicles on the A22 Brenner motorway, between Vipiteno and the Italian border.

This ban, applied on all Saturdays from January 11 to March 15, between 7 a.m. and 10p.m., concerns in particular all the vehicles with a gross weight over 7.5 tonnes. However, heavy vehicles headed towards locations in the province of Bolzano are exempt from the ban. The decree provides further specific exceptions for certain transports categories that will be able to transit, based on what is established in the official document. Vehicles affected by the ban which are already travelling on the Brenner motorway in the province of Bolzano when the ban comes into effect, can stop at the SA.DO.BRE parking lot in Vipiteno or at other designated places along the motorway.

With the introduction of this new ban, transport companies will have to deal with additional inconveniences considering delays in deliveries and therefore higher prices for consumers, as well as consequences for the entire sector.
